ATORVASTATIN+AMLODIPINE is a combination of cholesterol-lowering agent and anti-hypertensive agent, primarily used to treat high blood pressure, chest pain (angina) and coronary artery disease (clogged arteries). It lower raised bad cholesterol levels (low-density lipoprotein - LDL), triglycerides (TG) and increases good cholesterol levels (high-density lipoprotein - HDL) in the body. A heart attack occurs when a blood clot blocks the blood flow to the heart. This blockage of arteries is often an accumulation of fat, cholesterol and other substances, which form a plaque in the arteries that feed the heart (coronary arteries).

ATORVASTATIN+AMLODIPINE is used to treat myocardial infarction (heart attack), stroke or coronary artery disease. It also lowers abnormally elevated bad cholesterol or fat levels and raises good cholesterol levels in the body. ATORVASTATIN+AMLODIPINE is composed of Atorvastatin and Amlodipine. Atorvastatin is a cholesterol-lowering agent and HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor. It works by blocking liver enzymes, causing the liver to make less cholesterol. Atorvastatin reduces the risk of coronary events, such as heart attack, stroke and angina (chest pain). Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker that relaxes blood vessels, so that blood passes through them easily, thereby lowering the blood pressure. It treats high blood pressure, Prinzmetal's or variant angina (chest pain) and coronary artery disease conditions. Amlodipine also improves blood supply to the heart muscle to receive more oxygen and thus preventing chest pain. ATORVASTATIN+AMLODIPINE helps lower cholesterol and blood pressure, thereby preventing a heart attack, stroke and other peripheral vascular diseases. 

Directions for Use

ATORVASTATIN+AMLODIPINE is an orally administered drug in the form of a tablet. Swallow the tablet as a whole with a glass of water. Do not chew, bite or break it. Please take it as prescribed by the doctor preferably with a meal. Do not stop taking medicine even if you feel well unless the doctor asked you to do so.

The patient should inform the doctor if he/she is taking ATORVASTATIN+AMLODIPINE before any surgery is scheduled or any new medicine is taken. ATORVASTATIN+AMLODIPINE can have harmful effects on the baby when a pregnant mother uses it. Also, ATORVASTATIN+AMLODIPINE can pass into the breast milk and may affect the breastfed infants. ATORVASTATIN+AMLODIPINE is contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Avoid using other over the counter medications, herbal or vitamin supplements without medical advice. ATORVASTATIN+AMLODIPINE may cause dizziness, headaches, nausea or tiredness that can affect your ability to drive, hence drive or operate machinery only when you are alert. Avoid alcohol intake while using ATORVASTATIN+AMLODIPINE since it may lead to increased blood pressure and further worsening of side effects. ATORVASTATIN+AMLODIPINE should be used in children only under a doctor's supervision.
